Tea Gardens of Takdah

The three major Tea Gardens of Takdah are Runglee Rungliot, Teesta Valley and Gielle. These tea gardens offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains, the meandersing Teesta River and the endless stretches of lush tea bushes.

Takdah Orchid Center

Takdah Orchid Centre is more than a century old. It is now a part of the Directorate of Forests, Govt. of West Bengal and is a leading research centre of Medicinal Plants and Orchids.

Barbotey Bridge

Barbatey Bridge or the Hanging Bridge of Takdah is an architectural marvel built in 1916 by the British. This historical landmark was originally built for transporting tea leaves.

Chagporti Tibetan Medical Institute

Chagporti Tibetan Medical Institute is located within the Pine Forests of Takdah. The Institute hosts Outdoor Patients as well as offers courses in traditional Tibetan Medicine.

German Wall

It is a guard wall built along the road to prevent landslides and rock falls. It was built by the British with the assistance of German Prisoners of War during World War I.

Nag Dara

At Nag Dara, water pours continuously from a non-perennial spring. This spring water was collected in a water trough where horses of British soldiers would drink. You would still find this water trough used by the British and the spring water source here.

Haathi Dara

The Haathi Dara or the Elephant shaped rock is worshiped here by the locals.
